Our oral surgery-related services include crown lengthening, bone grafting, and nitrous oxide for patients who may benefit from added comfort during care.
Crown lengthening may be recommended when more of the natural tooth structure needs to be exposed. This can help prepare a tooth for a dental crown, improve access for restorative treatment, or address certain gumline concerns. If crown lengthening is part of your treatment plan, Dr. Chokshi will explain why it is recommended and how it supports your overall care.
Bone grafting may be used to help support the jawbone after tooth loss, dental infection, injury, or other concerns. In some cases, bone grafting may also be part of planning for future tooth replacement, including dental implants. Our team will evaluate your needs and explain whether bone grafting is appropriate for your situation.
Nitrous oxide is a comfort option that may help patients feel more relaxed during dental treatment. It is sometimes called laughing gas and is delivered through a small mask during the appointment. If you feel nervous about dental care or need a more involved procedure, ask our team whether nitrous oxide may be appropriate for your visit.
Oral surgery may be recommended when a dental concern cannot be fully addressed with routine care alone. Some patients need surgical treatment because a tooth, gum, or bone concern is affecting comfort, function, or future treatment options.
You may be referred for an oral surgery evaluation if a tooth needs additional structure exposed before a crown, if bone support is needed after tooth loss, or if your treatment plan involves preparing the mouth for restorative care. Oral surgery may also be discussed when comfort support is needed for a more involved dental appointment.
Not every patient who visits our office will need oral surgery. If a less involved option is appropriate, Dr. Chokshi will explain that as well.
